The Condensed Matter Division (CMD) of the European Physical Society aims to serve its scientific, industrial and educational communities by helping them to obtain the latest information on progress in their specialties and related fields, to gain visibility for their research, to help them interact with their peers and to develop professionally.

For this, CMD organises a number of major physics events, awards two of the foremost prizes in Condensed Matter Physics - the EPS Europhysics Prize and the Liquid Matter Prize - and issues a bimonthly Newsletter.

The 2024 EPS Condensed Matter Division Europhysics Prize  has been awarded to Professor Andrea Cavalleri. The prize was presented on Wednesday September 4th 2024, during the Awards Sessions of the 31st General Conference of the EPS Condensed Matter Division CMD31. Link to press release

CMD31 was held in Braga, Portugal, from September 2 nd  through September 6th , 2024. For more information on the conference, see the webpage:  https://cmd31.sci-meet.net/

The Liquid Matter Prize 2024 is awarded to Professor Julia Yeomans FRS, University of Oxford, UK. The prize was presented on  the 12th Liquid Matter Conference, 22-27 September 2024 in Mainz, Germany, organised by the Liquid Matter section.
