90th NPD Board meeting in Caen

Posted By Alessandra Fantoni, 8 hours ago

The 90th meeting of the EPS-NPD board took place during the 6th European Nuclear Physics Conference (EUNPC 2025), held in Caen from the 22-26th September 2025.

The conference was a huge success, gathering close to 400 participants. The schedule was extremely busy with many exciting sessions covering all aspects of nuclear physics and its applications as well as guided tours of the city of Caen, the Mont Saint Michel and the SPIRAL2 facility in GANIL.

The board met twice during the week. We welcomed 4 new board members from Germany, Hungary, Poland and Spain.

The status of the organisation of the next Applied Nuclear Physics Conference (ANPC) to be held in september 2026 in Cluj Napoca, Romania was presented on zoom by D. Balabanski.

The meeting continued with a discussion on the new EPS web site, on applications for EPS historical sites and prizes and with a decision on the location of the EUNPC 2027, which will take place in Catania.

The meeting ended with a vote on the best EPS-NPD poster prize, which was awarded on the last day of the conference together with the NuPECC poster prizes.

During a very memorable conference dinner, Alessandra Fantoni presented the winners of the best PhD theses in Nuclear Physics (2021-2023) and of the Lise Meitner prize 2024 with their diplomas and medals.
