On the 14th of November 2013, we visited the ’Technische Sammlungen Dresden’, along with new and old members of the jDPG regional group in Dresden. After getting to know each other we all took part in a journey through the history of electricity. But it wasn’t as tedious as it sounds. Indeed, it was a fascinating trip, which was enriched by short visits and talks of famous scientists like Thomas Edison or Benjamin Franklin. This spectacle was completed by sparkling flashes, rumbling thunders and amusing experiments! Although this journey was very galvanizing it was not the end of our trip: The mathemticians among us were thrilled to visit the ’Erlebnisland Mathematik’. There, we looked at fascinating patterns of geometry, mysteries of symmetries and wiggling stones. Each feature was equally delightful.

After this part of the tour, everybody was hungry, so to finish the day, we went to the top floor. During lunch and enjoying the panoramic view over Dresden we could get into contact with the new members and tried to motivate them to join our YMS. This day gave us loads of new experiences, and when looking back now, it was simply amazing! We are looking forward to the next great experience!
