The European Physical Society (EPS Executive Committee has created a committee which shall be known as the EPS Committee of European Integration (CEI)
Membership/Chairman
- The EPS CEI Committee shall be comprised of the Chairman and six members.
- The term of office of the members of the CEI shall be 3 years. The members of the CEI may serve a maximum of two terms.
- The EPS Secretary General may attend all meetings of the CEI, but shall not vote.
- The CEI shall elect a chairman from among the members appointed by the Executive Committee of EPS. The chairman shall serve for one term of 3 years.
- The CEI may invite other persons to attend its meetings.
General CEI Policy
- The CEI will advise the EPS Executive Committee on its policy and use of grants given by the EPS for purposes of the CEI actions.
- The general policy is to increase EPS’ visibility, to help the national physical societies and their members in their activities toward European integration and multilateral cooperation, as well as to attract new members. An important element of the EPS-CEI policy is to promote the exchange of researchers, students, teachers, and transfer of good practice and knowledge.
- The Committee of European Integration may recommend modifications and additions to the EPS policy of European integration of new EU countries and candidates.
- The CEI should consult with other EPS bodies and members when determining its policy. These include Committees, Divisions, Groups, National Societies, Individual Members, and Associate Members etc.
Budget Proposal
The CEI will make proposals to the Executive Committee for a budget for implementing its program of activities. The proposals shall be for a one year period. The proposals will be discussed by the Executive Committee. Budgetary authority and responsibility remains with the Executive Committee. However, major variations in the proposals made by the CEI and decisions by the Executive Committee will be explained to Council.
Granting Mechanism
The CEI will advise the Executive Committee on the appropriate mechanisms for the communication, selection, and payment of activities proposed by the CEI.
The CEI can:
- Undertake these tasks itself
- Use existing EPS bodies
- Propose the creation of ad hoc or permanent working groups.
Reports
The CEI will report on an annual basis to the Executive Committee and to Council. The report should include report on activities, budget, and an indication of policy objectives achieved.
