EPS Council established the East-West Task Force (EWTF) Committee in 1996 with the following tasks:

  • To help financially young physicists from the countries of Central and East Europe (C/E Europe) in their participation in EPS conferences
  • To develop a deeper cooperation of EPS with national physical societies In C/E Europe (mainly by financial supports of their representatives in EPS division /groups boards).

EWTF functioned until 2007, chaired by Prof. Dr. Jaroslav Nadrchal. EWTF provided almost 750 sponsorships for conference participation, chosen from almost 2000 applications.

The EPS Executive Committee (ExCom) decided that some EWTF tasks should continue and established Committee of European Integration (CEI). Its activity was partially a continuation of EWTF as well as on demand of ExCom.

A part of J. Nadrchal report in Council meeting 2009, which could characterize CEI and EWTF position, could be found here.
